2020 Program

Sadly, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we have made the decision to cancel our 2020 program.  PBM leadership is now focused, with an equity-centered lens, on 3 areas of work:  Program Assessment and Development, Development and Fundraising, and Organizational Structure.  We are excited about what lies ahead for PBM, and hope you will continue to support social justice through PBM’s mission to empower girls of color to become leaders in their communities. Stay tuned for more information about our 2020/2021 programming!

PBM is grateful to everyone who stepped out — and stepped up — to honor our exceptional young local leaders and pledge critical financial support for our programs. Thanks to our generous community, we were able to reach our $100K fundraising goal, and had a wonderful time celebrating together! If you weren’t able to attend and would like to donate, it’s not too late!

PBM travels to Tanzania! 12 students from Oakland’s Holy Names High School and 4 chaperones joined 18 Tanzanian students at SEGA Girls Secondary School in our first joint leadership summit.  Together, PBM and SEGA are building a global network of young female leaders ready to be critical agents of change, and architects of a just, healthy and peaceful world.

We loved celebrating PBM at Sweetwater Music Hall, with over 200 people, including PBM program managers, community leaders, generous donors, and 23 of our amazing PBM girls and their families! Thanks to generous support from this evening, we’re well on our way to our goal of $300,000, which will engage up to 30 young women in our 2019 year-long programs and their travel to Africa.

Hear from our 2018 PBM girls!

If you didn’t have a chance to attend, please watch this video to hear from our 2018 girls about their experience with PBM, their time in Africa, and what’s next.

Women as Global Changemakers - 4/24/18 Grace Event

What an evening!  To those that were able to join us for our Women as Global Changemakers panel discussion, thank you.  We were inspired by our panelists, and proud of the Powerful Beyond Measure Changemakers who attended with their parents and navigated the room with poise and charm.  Powerful Beyond Measure is here to support the leadership of exceptional young women.  This evening at Grace Cathedral affirmed why we show up every day.  Thank you to our speakers, and to Daraja Academy for co-hosting Women as Global Changemakers.
