Never one thing and seldom one person can make for a success.  It takes a number of them merging into one perfect whole.

What is the National Predator Database?

The National Predator Database is a listing of perpetrators of child sexual abuse, molestation, rape and sexual assault who have not been convicted in a court of law.  Studies have shown that only 5% of sexual perpetrators ever serve a day in jail (National Crime Victimization Survey, Bureau of Justice, 1999).  That means that 95% of sexual predators are our neighbors, our co-workers, and the people we see on a daily basis.  How can we begin to protect ourselves and our children from these sexual predators?  This question is how the idea for the National Predator Database was born.

There are thousands and thousands of sexual predators walking around free everyday.  The public doesn't know they are sexual predators because fewer than 5% of attempted and completed rapes are reported to the police (US Department of Justice).  Survivors of sexual crimes are filled with feelings of shock, guilt, self-blame and shame.  Many fear their behavior, clothing and past sexual experiences will be put on trial instead of the perpetrator.  We need to create a safe environment for the survivor to come forward and tell her/his story.  Since Powerful Beyond Measure is not a law enforcement agency, we founded the National Predator Database.  The Database is not tied to any law enforcement agency, it is merely staffed by concerned citizens who want to expose sexual predators and protect our communities.

Survivors of these sexual crimes submit their abusers' names, their abuse experiences and as much information as they can about the abuser to the database.  This information allows us to trace the perpetrators' histories and determine his current location.  With the survivors' courage, we can create a community of people who are intent on ending the tragedy of sexual violence.

We have just started the database and only have a few names at this time, but our hope is to create a large database that employers and the general public will use. Making these abuse stories and abuser names available, allows parents to make informed choices of who spends time with their children.  This protects children even when the perpetrator wasn't tried in a court of law.  Since the average child molester molests 117 children (National Institute of Mental Health, 1988), we need to do everything we can to end their access to children.  The National Predator Database is the first step in ending sexual violence.

How do I add my story to the National Predator Database?

Are you a survivor of rape, molestation, child sexual abuse or sexual assault?  Adding your story to our growing database is easy.  Simply fill out the Add Your Story form below to submit your story to the database.  Or you may click here for a printable version to mail-in (the mailing address is on the form).

Reminder:  Powerful Beyond Measure does not share your personal information with anyone:  not the abuser, not anyone searching the database, or any other company.  We respect your privacy and only collect your information in order to verify an actual person is submitting the story.  Your submission is completely anonymous.

How do I search the database?

At this time the database is not available for searching.  We will make the information searchable after we receive at least 10,000 abuse stories.  If you would like an email when the database is ready for searching, please send an email to:  comments@PowerfulBeyondMeasure.org with "Search Database" as the subject line (you do not need to write anything in the body of the email unless you would like to).
